St Mary's Historic House and Gardens Charitable Trust

The Trust was formed in 2004 for the preservation and conservation for the benefit of the general public of St. Mary’s House, Bramber, and its associated gardens and other buildings, together with its contents and collections. St. Mary’s is a unique example of our national heritage. It has magnificent panelling and marquetry, the unique Elizabethan ‘Painted Room’, as well as the owners’ special collections which have been bequeathed to the Trust. The house has been visited by many thousands of visitors, both by the general public on open afternoons and countless specialist groups and schools. It deserves to be enjoyed by everyone.

To maintain it as a visitor attraction open to the public can only be done with adequate funding through donations, legacies and grants, on top of income from visitors. The magnificent Victorian Garden, as well as Orchard Lodge, have been bought back through the generous donations of friends and family. We are now seeking to acquire the Victorian Wing, the former gardeners’ cottages, as well as to establish an endowment fund in order to maintain and preserve St. Mary’s, and its associated buildings and grounds, into the future.
